Close to 28,000 people from over 110 countries attended the Papal Mass, said Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Advisor to His Majesty the King for Diplomatic Affairs, at a special press conference held in connection with the visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to the Kingdom, last night at The Diplomat Radisson Blu.

Shaikh Khalid said the Pope visit has been a great success and the Kingdom of Bahrain was really honoured to host such an event.

He said the Kingdom also concurs with the Pope’s message that political, economic or social issues must be addressed only through a humane perspective.

Addressing a large number of foreign journalists, who had arrived here along with Pope Francis, Shaikh Khalid said the Kingdom has always been a leader in spreading the messages of love and harmony across the region and world.

“Bahrain will continue to welcome people from across the world without any discrimination on the basis of religion, race or other aspects,” he said, adding that the concluded recommendations of the ‘Bahrain Dialogue Forum’ were referred to His Majesty.

“The historic visit of Pope Francis reflects the key role played by His Majesty to ensure stability and peace across the region.”
