Poll candidate proposes ‘microfinance schemes’

An independent candidate running for the upcoming Parliament polls has proposed the establishment of microfinance schemes for the welfare of citizens.

Mahdi Almadhoob, contesting from Bilad Al Qadeem Constituency in the Capital Governorate, has presented his electoral agenda to the voters, which consists of various social, economic, educational and environmental proposals.

And among them a microfinance scheme in collaboration with the private sector has been given a top priority.

“Sustainable microfinance schemes are very much in accordance with UN Sustainable Development Goals and this will promote sustainable growth and absolute employment,” said Mr Mahdi.

He added that the initiative if implemented will benefit low or middle-income individuals while offering them a platform to explore the latest technologies.

“It will also create a new league of micropreneurs.”

Mr Mahdi, an independent management consultant, human resource specialist and certified trainer in the field of human development.

He holds an MBA Programme’s Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Hull, in addition to a variety of certificates in management and human resources from different institutions around the world.

He has worked with the Bahraini Government, UNDP, EDB and many volunteering initiatives. Parliamentary elections in the Kingdom of Bahrain are scheduled to be held on 12 November 2022.
