Bahrain, UAE united against terror

Bahraini-UAE anti-terror exercise “Jalmud 3” concluded on a high note yesterday in the presence of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Supreme Commander and the UAE President.

The event also saw the signing of a memorandum of Understanding on military cooperation between the two brotherly countries for counter-terrorism operations, which HM King and the UAE President said would bolster ties.

Hailing the deal, HM King said, “the challenges facing the region today require all involved to come together and stay alert constantly.” HM welcomed UAE Armed Forces and praised firmness in countering terrorism.

The UAE President said the exercise showcased the skill and competence of the participants, as he wished Bahrain and UAE further growth, prosperity and security. The National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander Major General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa (Director of the exercise) and the UAE Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Isa Saif bin Ablan Al-Mazroui signed the deal.

Earlier, upon arrival, HM King and Shaikh Mohammed were received by BDF Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Nasser, Commander of the Royal Guard Special Force Colonel Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and senior invitees. In his address, HH Shaikh Nasser said the exercise is for ensuring security, stability and peace in the region and “strengthens plans to confront the dangers facing our Arab countries.”

Shaikh Nasser also praised the heroic epics of the Bahraini, Emirati and Saudi soldiers in fighting the terrorist groups and defending the religion, the land and the Arabian identity of the region. He also lauded the ongoing efforts of the Arab Coalition Forces to deter terrorism with all firmness and strength.

HM King thanked HHShaikh Nasser for his management of the exercise and efforts to boost the combat competence of the Royal Guard personnel. The Royal Guard of Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) and several units of BDF, the Interior Ministry and the National Intelligence Agency participated in the military drill held over many days alongside members from the UAE Armed Forces.
