Court awards 5 years for rash driving; killing one, injuring several

A man found guilty of causing an accident that led to the death of a person and injuring several others was handed down five years in jail by the Minor Criminal Court.
The Court, in its ruling, named the culprit as a person holding a Gulf Passport. According to the Traffic Prosecution, the accident occurred a month back on Shaikh Isa bin Salman Street.
The defendant, case files said, recklessly drove a vehicle before ramming into a traffic patrol car, a sign board and a vehicle parked on the wayside to carry out urgent maintenance works. Police reached the scene immediately and took the suspect into custody.
The man, during interrogation, also admitted to the charges levelled against him. Public Production had remanded him into custody before referring him to a trial before the Minor Criminal Court.
