The Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) will host Francesca Cartier Brickell, the historian and scion of the Cartier family; the world's most famous jeweller.

The Cartier family has returned to Bahrain after more than a century of   Jacques Cartier, Francesca’s great-grandfather's famous visit to Bahrain in 1912.

During her upcoming historic visit to Bahrain, Mrs. Brickell will carry out many activities and events, including her participation in the "Danat" pavilion at the Jewelery Arabia Exhibition, scheduled to be held from 22 to 26 November, where she will sign; for the first time in the Middle East, her famous book "The Cartiers" in which she narrates aspects of the untold story of her family.

She will also give a lecture on the family's history, specifically Mr. Cartier's connections to Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf, as well as the most significant occurrences and adventures from a time when natural pearls were the region's primary source of income and its economic connection to the rest of the world.

Mrs. Brickell will also visit Muharraq Governorate and the areas of diving and natural pearl extraction, and learn about the changes that have occurred in the field of pearl extraction and trade during the past hundred years, in addition to the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in reviving this cultural and economic legacy.

Mrs. Noora Jamsheer, CEO of "Danat," confirmed that this tour would highlight the Kingdom of Bahrain as an ideal destination for natural pearl enthusiasts in the region and around the world.

In a statement on this occasion, Mrs. Jamsheer said, "The granddaughter of the Cartier family meets on the land of Bahrain with the grandchildren of those who extracted the pearls chosen by her grandfather to adorn his works of art.

This meeting evokes historical memories and displays the desire of succeeding generations to work together to preserve this global heritage."

Mrs. Jamsheer added, "We also want to invest this unprecedented visit in introducing, regionally and globally, the services provided by Danat Laboratory in the field of testing pearls, jewelry and precious stones, and granting internationally recognized certificate of authenticity, with an emphasis on the status of the laboratory, which has become the first of its kind in the world ".

It is noteworthy that Mrs Francesca Cartier Brickell will sign her book in the "Danat" pavilion at the Jewelery Arabia Exhibition on the first day of the exhibition, which falls on November 22, from 6pm till 7pm, and meeting with her and purchasing the book will be available during this time.
