Shaikh Nasser sees bright future for Bahraini women sports

HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that the women’s sports in Bahrain had attained landmark achievements at the administrative and technical levels at various sports gatherings and championships.

Shaikh Nasser remarked this yesterday while extending congratulations to HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women (SCW), on Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa’s winning of OIC’s Women and Sports Award 2015 for Asia.

“The International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s granting of the Women and Sports Award 2015 to Shaikha Hayat bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, the member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Chairperson of the Women Sport Committee and President of the Bahrain Table Tennis Association, is the fruitful outcome of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s support for Bahraini women. It shows HM the King’s keenness to provide a suitable environment for woman sport in the Kingdom,” he said. “The top award proves the prestigious status enjoyed by Shaikha Hayat among international sports circles.”

He added that the IOC Award was an honour not only for Shaikha Hayat, but also for the Bahraini woman sport community, which, he said, enjoyed the constant support of the supreme Council for Youth and Sports.

He also lauded Shaikha Hayat’s dedication and support to woman sports in the Kingdom.
