Arab and South American leaders began the fourth South American-Arab Countries (ASPA) Summit here in Saudi Arabia yesterday, aimed at strengthening ties between the geographically distant but economically powerful regions. 

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is heading the Kingdom’s delegation to the summit, which will conclude today.

HM the King made a statement in which he expressed delight at participating in the fourth ASPA Summit in Riyadh at the kind invitation of the Saudi King.

HM the King highlighted the strategic importance of the summit, which plays a leading role in enhancing joint Arab action and strengthening Arab countries’ relations with all countries and blocs.

“The serious challenges currently faced by the world require more solidarity and cooperation to achieve the aspirations of Arab and South American countries for more fruitful relations in the political, economic, social and cultural fields,” HM the King said.

HM King Hamad affirmed that ASPA had always been a source of good for Arab and South American countries, expressing hope that the summit would bolster bilateral coordination, put forward mechanisms of consultation and understanding on regional and international issues of mutual interest, develop a modern strategy to achieve more progress and prosperity and strengthen the pillars of security and stability of the countries of the two regions.

HM the King wished the summit every success in deepening joint relations and opening up new horizons of bilateral cooperation.
