HH Shaikh Nasser highlights need for developing basketball in Bahrain

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, has received a delegation from the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), namely Ingo Weiss, Chairman of FIBA, Andreas Zagklis, Secretary General of FIBA and Rose Guillemette, Office Manager of FIBA, in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, Aymen bin Tawfiq Almoayed, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs and Waleed Al Alawi, President of Bahrain Basketball Association.

During the meeting, HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed the importance of the collaboration between Bahrain Basketball Association and FIBA in order to contribute to backing Bahrain’s efforts that are exerted towards developing the game at the technical level and work hand by hand in implementing the programmes and plans as well as initiatives that are meant to meet the needs of this sport in Bahrain.

His Highness pointed out that the visit of FIBA’s delegation to the Kingdom of Bahrain reflects the great links between the Federation and Bahrain Basketball Association, which have led to the execution of many development programmes that positively impacted the basketball sport in the Kingdom.

HH Shaikh Nasser stressed the significance of taking advantage of the FIBA’s programmes that pave the way for the continued development of Bahrain’s basketball.

Meanwhile, HH Shaikh Nasser explained that the Bahraini basketball made great displays at various levels, including the national team, which attracted attention with many incredible performances.

It’s worth noting that HH Shaikh Nasser received a souvenir from FIBA members.

For his part, the members of FIBA praised HH Shaikh Nasser’s belief in the importance of developing the Kingdom’s basketball, which accomplished great results in the past period, underlining that the Federation is ready for cementing collaboration with Bahrain Basketball Association in order to implement his vision and strategy to elevate this sport.
