Bahrain’s new Parliament and Municipal Councils become a reality

Finally, the Kingdom’s new (2022) Parliament and Municipal Councils have become a reality with the people electing the remaining representatives yesterday in the runoff poll.
In the great democratic endeavour to win a Parliamentary seat, only seven incumbents achieved success in the second round while 15 lost their runoff battles to pave the way for new lawmakers.
Abdulnabi Salman, Zainab Abdul Amir, Hisham Al Ashiri, Mamdouh Al Saleh, Ali Al Nuaimi, Ahmed Al Salloum and Khaled Buang received the people’s consent to represent them in the Kingdom’s Parliament for one more term.
The incumbent MPs Ammar Al Bannai, Ammar Al Abbas, Ali Ishaqi, Ibrahim Al Nafie’i, Ahmed Al Amer, Ahmed Al Ansari, Ali Zayed, Badr Al Dosari, Muhammad Al Sisi, Kaltham Al Hayiki, Abdullah Al Dosari, Falah Hashem, Abdullah Al Thawadi, Bassem Al Maliki and Mahmoud Bahraini lost their seats in yesterday’s runoff polls.
Nine incumbent lawmakers – Youssef Zainal, Masoumeh Abdul Rahim, Sawsan Kamal, Ahmed Al Demistani, Fadel Al Sawad, Hamad Al Kooheji, Fatima Al Qatari, Muhammad Bu Hammoud, Issa Al Dosari – failed to sustain their parliament seats in the first round of polls itself.
