AMH Medathlon 2022, a three-day event of inter-school competitions, concluded on Friday with a grand finale at the Al Raja School Auditorium.

The students of the New Indian School Bahrain were declared winners of the’ AMH Health is Wealth’ trophy for this year.

Organized annually, by the American Mission Hospital, this event is aimed at promoting health awareness and scientific knowledge among school children, said Dr George Cheriyan at the Award Ceremony.

Involving and encouraging school children, at a young age, to learn the importance of health living, as preventative care, is often better than learning curative methods by understanding physical bodily functions, he added.

“We had 300 students from 16 schools of Bahrain, participating in speech contests, quizzes, and short films. We even had debates for school teachers in which 12 schools participated”, said Dr Rama Krishna, the co-organizer of the event with Dr Babu Ramachandran.

“A creative new contest called Med-Zap was also introduced this time where students came up with innovative campaigns to promote Immunization, healthy living and to combat drug abuse”, he said.

Mohammed Irfan Naufal, of the New Indian School, Ann Maria Thomson of the Asian School, and Vigneshwari Natarajan of the Indian School were the top three speakers in a Speech Contest that had 40 contestants in preliminaries.
