Bahrain School celebrated the National Days with a focus on Bahraini traditions and celebrations inspired from local arts and falconry.
Guest Speaker, Nadia Al Jar, a Bahraini artist, used a PowerPoint presentation to highlight Bahrain’s history, diverse communities, social harmony, peaceful coexistence and mutual acceptance.
Linking the past with the present through the use of a multitude of pictures on a large screen set up on the occasion, Nadia explained the significance of pearling and different traditions in Bahrain’s cultural heritage and the Kingdom’s modern status in various sectors.
Students also interacted with a feathered guest, a falcon, as they were shown ways to handle it while they learned about hunting and sporting traditions that have been long embraced in Bahrain and the region.
The students were in a festive mood as they wore Bahraini clothes, waved flags and listened to traditional songs.
Nadia’s student-centered approach to highlighting Bahrain’s National Days was appreciated by the students and lauded by the school staff and visiting superintendent Dr. Jeff Arrington and Community Superintendent Ms. Stephanie El Sayed.
“It was a joyful occasion for the students and a new opportunity for the school as we once more highlighted diversity as both a virtue and a strength,” Middle High School principal Shana Seawright said.
“Celebrating the National Days of Bahrain is a tribute to the great harmony that exists in the school and in Bahrain. Students were able to gain new insights into the country’s heritage, traditions and aspirations. We are grateful for the support of the school administration, the role of our guest Nadia and the enthusiasm of the students who remain the core of our attention and care,” Amal Marouf, the Arabic teacher who coordinated and organized the events, said.
