Bahrain School students have participated in a STEMposium event, a DoDEA’s multi-day full emersion experience to boost and test science, technology, engineering, and mathematics capabilities.
At the 18-team competition in Wiesbaden, Germany, the students worked in cohort teams of six peers to resolve a real-world scenario and create solutions to STEM problems and issues.
The overall theme was to see which team could produce the most suitable plan for the sustainable colony on the moon. Content experts presented conditions, guide and support the student who designed, created, and solved the problems.
“We had six students that participated in and were broken up into six different Greek Letter teams,” Career and Technical Education Teacher Gayle Larhone said.
“All our students did phenomenal, exceptionally well within their teams. Throughout the weeklong event, in addition to the main theme, the students were challenged in various ways like to complete an engineering challenge and a robotic competition just to name a few,” said Larhone, the CTE, P.E and Health Team Leader who accompanied the students to Germany.
