Plans underway for more afforestation projects

Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak has announced plans to implement more afforestation and enhancement projects, as well as building parks and walkways and waterfront development.
He emphasised the importance of community partnership in achieving the goal of doubling the number of trees in the Kingdom of Bahrain by 2035. Al Mubarak was speaking as he received northern region Municipal Council Chairman Dr Sayed Shubbar Ebrahim Al Widae.
The meeting discussed municipal projects in the northern governorate and the Ministry’s plans and programmes and in light of the new session of municipal councils, and challenges and ways of improvement.
The Minister stressed the pivotal role of the municipal councils in the process of construction and development and in supporting and developing municipal experiences. Al Widae praised the Ministry’s continuous support of municipal councils, and stressed the importance of strengthening relations to serve the northern governorate.
