Many local farms have started green planting to satisfy the needs of the Kingdom, and farmers are working hard to ensure the finest yield. These efforts are intended to increase environmental awareness and promote modern agricultural techniques.

Still reeling from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, the world is facing a food crisis as prices soar to all-time highs. The giant leap in food prices is linked to the supply chain disruptions caused by the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, affecting commodities such as wheat, edible oils, and fertilisers.

In two years, the number of people facing, or at risk of, acute food security increased from 135 million in 53 countries pre-pandemic, to 345 million in 82 countries to today. Against a backdrop, the Kingdom has already begun green planting to meet the demand.

Malavath Mahendhar, a farmer at Alnoaimi Field, told The Daily Tribune: “Alnoaimi Farm is located near Salmabad where a 6-acre vegetable farm produces a 100kg yield each month for the market.

In addition to more than 25 different veggies, we also grow high producing brinjal, pumpkins, tomatoes, ladies’ fingers, chillies, and snake gourd. “Farmers from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan have been working on this farm for more than three years to provide the best harvest to the market so people in the Kingdom can have fresh vegetables.”

He pointed out their mission is to bring a greener life to people’s doorsteps while being a part of the Kingdom’s booming development through the latest cutting-edge technology and committed to getting our job done as effectively as possible. Simply being a one-stop shop for everyone who is interested in embracing a greener lifestyle.

“Bahrainis and visitors interested in buying fresh vegetables can visit farms between 9 am to 5 pm and crops are also transported to Salmabad market every week. “More than ten farm fields, owned by various individuals, are situated in the same area and produce fresh veggies for Bahrain’s citizens,” he added.
