Follow-up Minister inaugurates workshop

Follow-up Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Muttawa yesterday inaugurated the workshop themed “Governance in the Public Sector: Legislation & Law Drafting.”

The workshop was organised by the Ministry at the Court of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister, with participation of 23 relevant officials from the Ministry Justice and Islamic Affairs, Finance Ministry, Industry and Commerce Ministry, Shura Council and Council of Representatives Affairs Ministry, Civil Service Bureau (CSB), the Legislation and Legal Opinion Authority (Fatwa), the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) and the chairman of the legal committee at the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

The Minister said that diligence on governance and boosting it in the public sector came as part of the government’s strategy aimed at the enhancement of performance of governmental agencies and institutions to provide suitable atmospheres for further growth of the national economy and development of work principles and basics in various fields.

The Minister said the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, has always been keen on continuous revision of all laws and regulations to develop them to be capable of supporting the comprehensive development process and to maintain the Kingdom of Bahrain’s leading position in legislation.

“The government seeks to implant the principles of governance and its ethics in public institutions to guide the behaviour of employees in public institutions in the manner which boosts trust in the output of government work,” he added.

The workshop aims to boost the capabilities, skills and knowledge of the participants and to transfer expertise through training the relevant staff in their institutions.
