The government of Bahrain is keen to support traditional markets that also have significance at the local and GCC levels, said Industry and Commerce Minister during a visit to the Muharraq Souq.
The traditional markets, Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro said, “enjoy the constant interest of the government for its historical and economic value.”
The minister also said that he is keen to continue market visits, for it provides him with an opportunity to receive feedback directly from merchants and shoppers.
Accompanying the minister were Governor Salman bin Isa bin Hindi Al-Mannai, Undersecretary Eman Ahmed Al-Dossari, and businessman Fuad Hassan Shuwaitar.
Minister Fakhro talked to merchants and shoppers about market activities and assured them of keenness to continue ensuring the flow of commercial activity.
Fakhro reviewed the general situation in the Muharraq market and the availability of goods, products and services at reasonable prices.
The minister also collected feedback on the commercial promotions and discounts available for merchants and customers during the festive season.
He also received a set of proposals presented by the traders at the market.
