Eight new mosques have been opened in housing projects across Bahrain, said Sunni Endowments Council Chairman Dr Rashid Mohammed Al Hajeri.

These include three mosques in Khalifa Town, two in East Hidd Town, two in Diyar Al Muharriq and another mosque in Hoorat Sanad. In a statement yesterday, Dr Al Hajeri hailed the royal care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the continued follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He commended the efforts of the Government, chaired by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to facilitate the construction of mosques and enable them to fulfil their noble role, in promoting moderate religious awareness. Dr Al Hajeri announced that the council will start appointing khateebs, imams and muezzins in the mosques which were opened in the new housing projects.
