The final day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah was celebrated on 26 December during an event hosted by Israel Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain Eitan Nae’h.
Senior Bahraini officials, Ambassadors and businessmen attended the event, along with a delegation of Bahraini youth who returned from a visit in Israel.
The guests held a traditional Menorah lighting ceremony, celebrating the Jewish tradition and the development of people-to-people relations of Israel and Bahrain. The Israeli Ambassador thanked His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his role in promoting religious coexistence in Bahrain and for promoting dialogue between different cultures.
He emphasised that the historical story of Hanukkah is an example for the importance of religious tolerance and respect for all kinds of religious rituals. Recently, Israel President Issac Herzog arrived in the Kingdom, the first visit by an Israeli head of state since the two agreed to establish diplomatic relations, which was the first step for them to fully normalise bilateral ties.
