163 Bahrain prisoners participate in Holy Quran competition

The qualification stage of the Al-Ghufran section of the 27th Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prix this year had the participation of 163 inmates.
Of the 163 inmates, 154 were men and nine were women, said Assistant Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohammed Taher Al-Qattan.
Patronised by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Grand Prix is organised annually by the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
The contest, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, forms part of efforts to correct inmates and provide them with an opportunity to learn and memorise the holy Quran.
