Northern governor inspects Lake Al Lawzi, hails flood control measures

Northern Governor Ali bin Sheikh Abdul Hussain Al Asfoor thanked the Ministry of Works yesterday for installing high-capacity pumps and connecting them to rainwater drainage channels to prevent flooding in the area amid the incessant monsoon downpour in the Kingdom.
“The temporary area created to enhance the absorptive capacity of Lake Al Lawzi and the expansion of the rainwater channels and drains,” Al Asfoor said, played a significant role in controlling flood waters in the area.
The Northern Governor was visiting the Al Lawzi area and lake in Hamad Town to ensure the safety of the areas affected by the seasonal rain ongoing for a week in the Kingdom. The visit also followed the directives of Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, to ensure public safety.
Al Asfoor visited the areas prone to rainwater flooding, thanking the Ministry of Works, the Ministry of Interior, the General Administration of Civil Defence and the General Directorate of Traffic for their excellent work.
