HRH Prince Salman receives 19th NAO report, urges optimal management of public funds

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, called on Government agencies criticised for administrative and financial non-compliance in the National Audit Office report to correct them immediately.

HRH Prince Salman also urged such agencies to ensure that “they are not repeated in future reports.” HRH Prince Salman said this while receiving the 19th NAO Annual Report 2021-2022 from the Auditor-General of the National Audit Office, Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, at Riffa Palace.

“It’s important to ensure that Government administrative and financial procedures follow the best practices to safeguard public funds and resources,” HRH said. Strengthening accountability and responsibility across government workstreams, HRH further stressed, are crucial to achieving the comprehensive development goals of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

His Royal Highness also commended ministries and agencies for performing their duty responsibly and efficiently, highlighting, “these are critical for ensuring optimal management of public funds.”

In this regard, HRH Prince Salman stressed that the ongoing cooperation between ministries, agencies, and the NAO is integral to strengthening regulatory frameworks and ensuring the optimal use of public resources for the benefit of Bahraini citizens.

Shaikh Ahmed attributed the growth of NAO and its development to the unwavering support of the HM King and oversight of the HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Shaikh Ahmed also appreciated the ministries and agencies helping NAO to complete its tasks.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Charity Educational Charitable Trust, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, also attended the meeting.
