UAE’s role crucial to peace, security: HM King Hamad

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday hailed the pivotal role played by the United Arab Emirates at the regional and global levels under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

HM King said the UAE plays a substantial role in championing Arab issues and supporting the joint GCC and Arab action to face various challenges. King Hamad also hailed UAE for its keenness to strengthen the pillars of security, stability and peace in the region.

His Majesty was speaking with Shaikh Mohammed, the President of the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi, on the occasion of visiting UAE. The talks focused on close bilateral ties, coordination, joint work and ways to enhance the horizons of cooperation to benefit the citizens of both countries.

In this regard, His Majesty King Hamad praised the UAE President for bringing together leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Jordan and Egypt, for fraternal consultative meetings.

The meeting had the participation of HM King Hamad, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman, the Amir of Qatar, His Highness Shaikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Jordanian monarch, His Majesty Abdulla II ibn Al-Hussein, and Egyptian President, His Excellency Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed various aspects of the long-standing solid relations, cooperation and coordination among their countries, in addition to the latest regional and global developments.

HM King and Shaikh Mohammed further discussed the latest developments in the region, Gulf and Arab issues and international issues. The leaders also exchanged views on several issues of mutual concern. Later yesterday, HM King returned to Bahrain following the fraternal consultative meeting in Abu Dhabi.
