University of Bahrain awards degrees to 584 Information Technology graduates

Graduates of the College of Information Technology received their degrees yesterday as part of the ceremonies the University of Bahrain is organising this year until the 29th of this month for the 21st batch of graduates.

The College of Information Technology awarded Bachelor’s Degrees to 584 students in five academic programmes in the presence of their kith and kin under the patronage of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

As the students walked across the stage and received their degrees, their proud parents, family members and friends, who had made the long journey along with them, shared their happiness and excitement with hearts swelled with joy.

Also witnessing the moments of joy at the Sakhir campus of UoB were faculty members, alums, former teachers, staff and other invitees. Receiving their honours yesterday were 272 students from the Bachelor of Information Systems, 171 from computer science, 38 from software engineering, 94 from computer engineering and nine from network engineering.

UoB, on Friday, honoured 369 graduates in the opening ceremony, of which 74 were graduates and 295 postgraduates. The Vice President for Academic Programmes and Scientific Research, Dr Muhammad Reda Qader, yesterday handed over the certificates to graduates in the presence of the Dean of the College.

The Dean of the College of Information Technology, Dr Hessa Al-Junaid congratulated the graduates and their parents and said: “It is our pleasure to have you with us on this day, and you have come a long way in seriousness, diligence and hard work, in order to achieve success and excellence.”

Dr Al-Junaid stressed: “The College of Information Technology has kept abreast of global developments, taking upon itself the responsibility of building a highly qualified generation that can face challenges with confidence and contribute to finding innovative solutions.”

Mohammed Abdul-Amir Mansoor Al-Halwaji, representing students, thanked the University of Bahrain. The Vice President for Academic Programmes and Graduate Studies, Dr Muhammad Reda Qader, also handed over graduation certificates. The university is holding 20 graduation ceremonies- two ceremonies a day- one in the morning and another in the evening- from January 19 to January 29.

The College of Information Technology was established in 2003. Over the past five years, 1067 students graduated from the undergraduate programme, including 551 female and 513 male students, and 67 from the postgraduate programmes.
