Filipino community celebrates Annual Feast Day of Sto. Nino

The Filipino Catholic community in the Kingdom organised the Annual Feast Day of Sto. Niño at the Sacred Heart Church on 20 January. This year’s celebration’s theme was “Sto. Nino, Our Source of Peace in the Walk of Faith”.
The Filipino Spiritual Director of Sacred Heart Church, Rev. Fr. Anthony Almazan OFM, CAP, delivered a holy mass, which was attended mostly by Filipino Catholics known for their fervent devotion to the Infant Jesus.
A procession around the church grounds followed after accompanied by rhythmic drum beats and dance parades. Philippine Embassy Charge D’ Affaires Anne Jalondo-on Louis praised the Filipino community who gathered to celebrate their faith.
She encouraged them to continue the annual tradition of the Sto. Niño fiesta, which is one of the Philippines’ cultural and spiritual traditions. Selected students from the Elementary Dance troupe of Philippine School Bahrain (PSB) presented their Ati-Atihan dance performance. They were trained by Arlene D. Detera, Salve Nicomedes and Ruth Mirhan Orense.
Other groups who performed their prepared performances like Pinoy Tiktokers, BISDAK Sinulog dancers and KIB (Katiling ban sang Ilonggo sa Bahrain). The celebration was also attended by Sacred Heart Parish Priest, Fr. Xavier D’souza, lay ministers, church volunteers and parishioners from various nationalities.
