Minister sees merging of govt bodies as vital step

Information and Parliament Affairs Minister Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi said merging Ministries and government institutions was an important step on the path of rationalising expenditure and cutting down the general budget deficit.

“It’s being done by reducing recurrent expenditure, boosting productivity and services and improving the administrative competency without encroaching on the rights of the labour force,” he said. Al Hammadi was speaking

in the work meeting with a number of officials from the Civil Service Bureau Human and Financial Resources and the Information and Parliament Affairs Ministry here yesterday.

Chairing the meeting the Minister discussed with them the organisational and executive procedures of merging the two Ministries in line with the Royal Vision to tackle economic and financial challenges and the recent cabinet reshuffle as per Royal Decree 65 of 2015.

The meeting shed light on proposals and special programmes to cut down expenditure, boost human resources and financial revenues and develop the organisational chart.

Al Hammadi stressed that the aim was to improve performance without duplicity in missions and prerogatives.
