Ministry keen to upgrade works: Essam Khalaf
Minister of Works Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Essam Khalaf has expressed the Ministry’s keenness to harness all potentials and resources to upgrade municipal work and consolidate the role of municipal councils.
“It’s also to achieve sustainable development that meets the aspirations of citizens and residents in line with the action plan of the government, led by Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa,” he remarked while chairing the first meeting of the High Coordinating Committee of municipal councils’ chairmen and concerned Ministries here yesterday.
The Minister highlighted the importance of the meeting of coordinating committee of the Works Ministry and service Ministries in removing the obstacles facing by municipal work.
He also stressed for discussing the visions of municipal councils and Ministries.
Education Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Informatics Nawal Al Khater reviewed the Education Ministry’s projects featuring in the Government Action Plan (2015-2016), including the construction and revamp of 10 schools and academic buildings across the Kingdom.
She said that the Capital Trustees Board and municipal councils would be provided with the Education Ministry’s detailed projects for 2016 at the earliest.
Al Khater praised the role played by municipal councils in providing the needs of the education sector, highlighting the importance of cooperation between municipal councillors in improving education in the Kingdom.
She welcomed the proposal of municipal councils’ chairmen to use sports halls and stadiums to hold lectures and cultural meetings related to municipal work issues.
The meeting discussed a number of issues of common interest to the two Ministries. The two sides agreed to include municipal councils in the field visits to sites of education and academic buildings that are under construction, given their role as basic partners in the development process.
Works Ministry’s Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs Dr. Nabil Mohammed Abu Al Fath, Undersecretary for Public Works Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayat, Capital Trustees Board Chairman Mohammed Al Khuzae, Northern Municipal Council Chairman Mohammed Bu Hamood, Southern Municipal Council Chairman Ahmed Al Ansari and a number of officials were also present in the meeting.
