Bahrain has been hailed by the Vatican as an “advocate of peace” initiatives yesterday, in a statement commending the recent launch of the “Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain” in Europe from Rome, Italy.
The Declaration, the Vatican News said, is an important document that promotes religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. It consolidates “Bahrain’s role as an advocate of peace initiatives” and carries the directions, objectives and messages of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, “calling for religious tolerance and harmony.”
The Vatican website also recalled the launch of the Bahrain Declaration in 2017 in Los Angeles, in the presence of HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2020.
The statement also shed light on the praise of His Holiness Pope Francis of the Bahrain Declaration during HH’s historic visit to the Kingdom last November.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s efforts to boost peace, tolerance and coexistence were also yesterday hailed by the Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee at German Bundestag, Armin Laschet. During a meeting with the Board of Trustees Deputy Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence Betsy Mathieson, Armin Laschet also stressed the importance of the Abraham Accords signed in 2020 in promoting peace in the region.
Laschet said that the Declaration of Bahrain confirms the Kingdom’s commitment towards religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
“Today, we see how these values are reflected in a society with a growing sense of responsibility towards the other, and how everyone joins hands to create a social fabric that is unparalleled,” he noted.
Laschet expressed honour in attending the inauguration of the Declaration of Bahrain, which was held recently in the Italian capital, Rome. He noted that the noble messages included in the declaration confirm the sound approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
