Bahrain's Farmers’ Market, now in its 9th week, has received over 16,000 visitors since opening doors at Budaiya Botanical Garden in last December.
First introduced in 2012, the market opened as an initiative to develop the agriculture sector and promote the sale of products produced sustainably, now offers a treasure trove of freshly harvested produce from farms across the Kingdom.
This year, the highlight is the artisan corner offering madein-Bahrain authentic products.
Haj Abdul Redha Hilal Abu Hilal, a professional basket maker, said this is the second year he is participating in the activities of the Farmers’ market.
“When I say the farmers’ market is one of the best platforms I had for my products, it’s not an exaggeration.”
“The huge presence of citizens, residents and visitors flocking to buy our products fills us with joy and encourages us to do more,” he added.
Abbas Abdul-Hussein Abdullah Al-Asafra, a participant at the pottery corner, said he had been doing this for the last 40 years.
“We buy pottery, paint and sell it to people, which is immensely popular with people here.”
“In the simplest terms, I will call this a wonderful place - the public participation and demand for our products are exemplary.
“This is my first time at the Farmers’ market. “We train children to make pottery in our corner, also an instant hit among visitors.
“Many told us they are keen to visit this corner every week.” Mohammed Ashour Al-Sabaa, who practices carpentry and sculpture, said this is his second time at Farmers’ market.
“We are experiencing tremendous demand from Bahrainis, residents and visitors alike. “I am in the profession of making various wooden tools and carving as ordered by customers.
“Many who visited my pavilion were keen to inquire about the tool and products we made.
