Bahrain keen to sustain labour market growth

Bahrain is keen to enhance the sustainability of the labour market growth and develop policies to increase investment attraction and opportunities.
This was emphasised by Labour Minister and Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) Board of Directors Chairman Jamil bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan as he received members of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation headed by Asmaa El-Ganainy.
The meeting aimed to evaluate expertise and work on enhancing them. Humaidan reviewed the initiatives for employment programs and social protection, and the achievement of increasing employment rates and decreasing the number of job seekers at the end of 2022, as well as programs to support women and promote the principles of equality in the labor market.
He briefed the delegation on the procedures for establishing businesses in the Kingdom and the legislation regarding the protection of expatriate workers in accordance with international labor standards, and its efforts to combat all forms of discrimination and address any practices of human trafficking.
The Minister also reviewed the new projects launched to support the business environment and wage protection for expatriate workers, and specialised training packages for university graduates to qualify them for the labor market.
Al Janani praised the government’s efforts in launching initiatives to sustain the growth of the labour market and provide more quality opportunities in various fields. She expressed her appreciation of the ministry and LMRA for their cooperation with IMF to review the Kingdom’s experience.
