MPs condemn Paris terror attacks, urge to combat it

Parliamentarians have strongly condemned the Paris terror attacks that killed at least 128 people, saying any act of terrorism taking place anywhere in the world was unacceptable.

MP and Member Human Rights Committee in Parliament Mohammed Almaarfi said the perpetrators of the attack had nothing to do with Islam. “They are criminals and they should be treated like criminals.”

He said that Islam is a very sacred and peace loving religion and it gives more importance to human life than anything else in the world. Citing the teachings of Islam, Almaarfi said that how could someone kill the innocent and unarmed people. “They have done it in the name of Islam as Islamic State (IS) is claiming.”

He added: “Bahraini people are very peaceful, peace loving and flexible people. They cannot accept such extremism anywhere in the world.” “Tomorrow it can be happened in any other country, so the world need to fight with the IS collectively.”

According to Shura Council Member and Head of Women and Children Committee Hala Fayez Ramzi, whatever happened in France was unacceptable at all. “It’s not justified to kill innocent people, who have nothing to do with what is happening around the world,” she said.

“It is unfortunate that terrorism is everywhere now and most of the countries are victims of it. People are suffering due to this unjustified terrorism and we really need to put all our efforts to fight it,” Ramzi remarked. “One of the ways to fighting terrorism is by stopping funds to buy all the weapons they are using.”

Shura Council Member Bassam Albinmohammed commented that those horrible terrorist attacks must remind everyone that terrorism should never be rewarded. “This is exactly why we insist on saying that terrorism and its supporting governments or groups shouldn’t be rewarded.” “There should be no tolerance on those who support terrorism and they should be isolated and punished for it,” he said.

“We should protect our youth from such ideologies and dangerous thoughts but at the same time the international community should not tolerate or differentiate between terrorist groups,” Bassam pointed out.

“We understand now how it feels and that’s why we are supporting our government in its actions to fight terrorism and are proud to be part of the coalition fighting terrorism in Iraq and Yemen and will fight it everywhere it is.”

He opined that Bahrain didn’t have double standards when it comes to terrorism. “We don’t say that this is bad terrorism so we fight it and the other one is good for us so we support it,” he added.
