Bahrain sends first relief aid to Turkey and Syria

The first shipment of Bahraini relief aid was dispatched yesterday to the earthquake-hit people in Turkey and Syria.

It was carried out under the patronage of HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the National Committee to Support the Earthquake Victims in Turkey and Syria, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

HH Shaikh Nasser extended deepest thanks, appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Honorary President of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), for his constant initiatives to support the afflict ed in brotherly and friendly countries, as well as extend a helping hand to the needy across the world.

The move is within the kingdom's efforts to strengthen the pillars of global solidarity, based on the fraternal and humanitarian bonds among all peoples, HH Shaikh Nasser said, commending the great support enjoyed by the RHF from the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed the RHF's honour in implementing HM the King's directives to deliver urgent relief aid to quake-hit countries.

HH Shaikh Nasser expressed the kingdom's solidarity with the Turkish and Syrian peoples in facing the humanitarian crisis resulting from the devastating earthquake that had struck their countries, noting that the committee has prepared a shipment of urgent relief aid, in compliance with the royal directives, praying to Allah the Almighty to rest the souls of the victims of the quake in eternal peace, and to bless the wounded with a speedy recovery.

RHF's Secretary-General, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed Al-Ameen, commended HM the King's directives, noting that they are within the constant royal endeavours to support brotherly and friendly countries under various humanitarian circumstances.

He indicated that based on HH Shaikh Nasser's directives, the shipment that contains the necessary medical, relief and food materials, was prepared in cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Health Ministry and the Bahrain Defence Force to cater to the urgent and basic needs of those affected by the quake in Syria and Turkey.

He affirmed that Bahrain has been, and will remain, at the forefront of countries that assistant brotherly and friendly peoples whenever they need help.

Turkish Ambassador to Bahrain, Esin Cakil valued highly HM the King's directives to send an urgent relief aid shipment to her country and Syria following the earthquake that had hit them.

She highlighted HM the King's constant keenness to extend a helping hand to the needy across the world, contributing to ensuring their psychological security and stability.

She also indicated that Bahrain has been, and remains, a leader in assisting stricken people all over the world, which reflects the outstanding management, organisation and professionalism of the RHF, under the leadership of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
