The Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF) organised a farewell for long-term community service member Mrs Florine Mathias, who is preparing to relocate to the US by the third week of this month.
Mrs Mathias has been an active member of ICRF ever since it was established in 1999, and has been a helping hand to many distressed Indian nationals in Bahrain.
She moved to Bahrain from India in 1961, and since 1964 she has been involved in community service, nearly 60 years of commitment.
She was a member of Migrant Workers Protection Society through which she helped people from different nationalities. She was also elected as President of Indian Ladies Association (ILA).
In appreciation of her invaluable support to ICRF, a specially knitted shawl was presented to Mrs Mathias by H.E. the Ambassador of India to Bahrain Sri Piyush Srivastava in the presence of the ICRF Executive team and Sri Ravishankar Shukla, Second Secretary at the Embassy of India.
ICRF Team and ICRF Regional Forum members also hosted a farewell dinner in her honour at Ramee Grand Hotel in Seef.
“We at ICRF will be losing a very dedicated member and a selfless social worker who has been closely involved in every aspect of social service, be it arranging medical camps, providing medicine support to domestic workers, hosting traumatised househelps at home, providing food support, and so on,” said Dr Babu Ramachandran during the farewell meeting.
“We wish her and her family the very best for all their future endeavours.”
