Syria received 42 tons of humanitarian supplies from Bahrain yesterday to help those affected by the earthquake.

According to the SANA news agency, the Daraa branch of the Syrian Arab Crescent received the relief aid for the victims through the Nassib border crossing.

In an official statement, the crossing’s director, Eng. Shadi Abazid, praised the generosity of Bahrain’s community and its residents in helping Syrian refugees.

Four trucks were used to transport food supplies, blankets, clothing, shoes, and other necessities to the affected governorates after being handed to the Syrian Red Crescent branch in Damascus.

More than 46,400 people have died across Syria and Turkey since the earthquakes nearly two weeks ago, officials said.

In the final days of search and rescue operations, emergency workers have managed to extract a handful of people from the rubble alive.

There are still many parts of Syria where aid has not yet been distributed.

To assist hundreds of thousands of people in the wake of the deadly earthquake that struck the region, the World Food Programme (WFP) has been putting pressure on authorities in the Syrian region to stop obstructing access.

Syria has already been shattered by more than a decade of civil war, the bulk of fatalities have been in the northwest.

The area is controlled by insurgents at war with forces loyal to President Bashar Al Assad which has complicated efforts to get aid to people
