Boost for Bahrain, Turkmenistan ties

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow yesterday held a joint meeting in which they reviewed the solid friendship relations between the two countries.
They also discussed areas of joint cooperation in the economic, trade, investment, cultural and tourism fields, as well as the latest regional and global developments of mutual interest.
HM the King received yesterday, at the Gudaibiya Palace, President Berdimuhamedow, and his accompanying delegation, who were on a visit to the Kingdom. Upon arrival of President Berdimuhamedow at the Gudaibiya Palace, an official reception was held in his honour.
The national anthems of the two countries were played, and the artillery fired 21 rounds to salute the Kingdom’s distinguished guest. The Turkmenistan leader expressed thanks and appreciation to His Majesty for the warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him.
They exchanged gifts on the occasion. HM the King and the Turkmen President held an expanded talks session, attended by the delegations of the two countries. HM King Hamad delivered a speech in which he hailed President Berdimuhamedow’s first visit to the Kingdom, which would boost the two countries’ robust historical relations spanning more than a quarter of a century.
“It is a good and valuable opportunity to meet you here today, alongside your honorable delegation of senior officials,” said HM the King, adding “to start a renewed round of discussions to develop our partnerships in various areas of common interest, taking into account the capabilities available in our two countries, particularly in the investment and trade fields, in addition to the energy, food security, tourism and cultural exchange sector, which will contribute to raising the levels of economic growth in the two countries.”
Important bilateral agreements across various fields were signed yesterday between the two countries. HM th King conferred the Order of Shaikh ‘Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa First Class’ on the Turkmen President in appreciation of his efforts to consolidate joint cooperation between the two countries.
President Berdimuhamedov delivered a speech in which he expressed sincere gratitude to His Majesty for the invitation to visit the Kingdom and for the generous hospitality and warm reception. “Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1995, we have come a long way in forming an effective model of cooperation based on friendship, fraternity, equality and mutual respect,” President Berdimuhamedov said.
