Indian Club to host ‘Geetmala’ soirée
The Indian Club will host a musical evening with songs from the golden era of Indian music as a stage performance, ‘Geetmala’ that showcases the works of Indian legends Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Mukesh Chand Mathur. The event will be held at the Club on November 19 at 7.30pm.
Leading Indian playback singers Nayan Shah, Cochin Azad, Anitha Shaiq and Renjith Kumar will perform a wide repertoire of songs from the three maestros’ to the accompaniment of ‘Music City’, a live 20 piece Bahrain based orchestra led by Event Organizer, Rafeeq Vadakara.
The evening, which is free entry to all, is in fact a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Music City Orchestra, a 20 piece live band that was established in Bahrain in 1995 and has done a multitude of charity musical events across The Kingdom.
“Who would have thought when we got together back in 1995 that we would be celebrating our 20th anniversary. We are very proud of what we have achieved as the Music City Orchestra and the contributions we were able to make to a wide range of charities and good causes by doing something that we all love to do – play music!” Rafeeq said.
Anand Lobo, President of the Indian Club said, “We are happy and proud to see Geetmala performed on the Indian Club stage; The Club looks forward to showcase all aspects of Indian traditions and culture and I am sure that songs from such Indian musical legends as Rafi, Kishore and Mukesh will appeal to our members and guests alike.”
