The Fourth Sharia High Court has granted a request from a man to officially register his “temporary” marriage signed in 2014 with his wife, a foreign national.
As per a document signed, the marriage contract was for a period of 11 years, which began in 2014 and ends in 2025.
The court ruled that an official marriage document should be issued, and the parentage of their two children, aged 7 and 1, should be established.
The man’s lawyer explained that her client had a temporary legal contract (mut’a) with the defendant, with the consent of her guardian, for a period of 11 years, with a dowry of 200 dinars.
Still, it was not documented by official authorities.
The couple attended court and acknowledged the validity of the documents submitted, while the court ruled that the marriage contract met all the necessary conditions and that the two children belong to their parents.
Therefore, the court ordered the issuance of an official marriage document and the establishment of the lineage of the two children.
The court found that the man’s request was based on a document in accordance with Sharia law and the law.
