Formula 1 fans around the world have been delighted by a viral video of seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton taking some time off his busy schedule during the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix to pose for a photograph with a long-time fan.

Hamilton was making his way back to the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) paddock from the vending area in a shuttle bus on Saturday, when, according to a source accompanying Hamilton and his Mercedes team members, Hamilton spotted the fan running and chasing their vehicle over a long distance.

The F1 superstar then told the shuttle driver to stop while in the middle of the road so he could take a photo with his admirer, Samarth S Dhond, who is a general manager of a private company in Bahrain. Samarth has been waiting for this chance for 10 years, and he said that this was a golden opportunity when speaking with The Daily Tribune.

Samarth, a yearly race-goer to the Bahrain Grand Prix, says he has been photographing Hamilton for many years. He has written and sent numerous letters and images to Hamilton expressing his interest. Samarth told The Daily Tribune: “In 2012 at 9.30 I was waiting for Lewis outside the paddock and I got my first shots.
