HM King Hamad hails HH Shaikh Khalid for tireless work to serve Bahrain's youth and sport sector

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa praised First Depty Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his tireless work to serve the youth and sport sector, support the young talents and develop their skills, and uphold the Kingdom’s image in the sport arena.

HM the King also lauded the cooperation of the sports community and its support to the plans of the General Sport Authority (GSA) and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), wishing HH Shaikh Khalid and the Bahraini youth further success to bring about more achievements.

His Majesty was speaking as he received HH Shaikh Khalid, who is also GSA and BOC president, at Safriya Palace yesterday. His Highness was accompanied by GSA board members. HH Shaikh Khalid presented HM King Hamad with the annual report of GSA for the year 2023, which included Bahrain’s main sport achievements during the previous period and the authority’s current and future programmes.

The report also highlighted the main initiatives and programmes launched by HH Shaikh Khalid to develop the sport in the Kingdom. It also included the action plan of GSA to concretise HH Shaikh Khalid’s directives.

HH Shaikh Khalid expressed heartfelt thanks and gratitude to HM the King for his unlimited support to the sport movement in the Kingdom, which yielded many accomplishments. He valued with pride and appreciation the meeting, and pledged to continue working towards bringing more achievements to further consolidate the Kingdom’s standing at regional, continental and international gatherings.
