Bahrain supports human values: HM King Hamad

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to supporting human values embraced by civil society for the stability and development of the state of law, through its constitutional institutions.
HM the King made the statement as he received yesterday heads of parliaments and their delegations taking part in the 146th IPU Assembly, currently held in Bahrain in the presence of officials from 143 countries.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attended the event at Al Sakhir Palace. In a speech delivered on this occasion, HM the King welcomed personally Bahrain’s esteemed guests, commended the longstanding role played by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in achieving peace and cooperation and working for a stable and prosperous world for all humanity.
“We have followed with interest the main issues under discussion and which are related to the promotion of peaceful coexistence, and the development of inclusive societies that embrace the values of disciplined freedom, justice, and recognition of the rights of all without discrimination,” he said.
HM the King described the IPU assembly as an ideal opportunity to highlight Bahrain’s bicameral system which has achieved tangible strides and contributes to national development. He also noted the role of Bahrain’s legislative system in maintaining the pillars of a tolerant society that is open to changing world and modern civilization, cultural and intellectual currents.

HM the King praised the efforts made by parliamentarians who reflect the popular will to achieve people’s hopes and aspirations and protect their interests, His Majesty expressed thanks to the Council of Representatives Speaker, Shura Council Chairman, head and members of the Organising Committees, wishing them all success to enhance collective legislative work towards “Building the Future in a better way”.
Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Duarte Pacheco, then presented HM the King with a commemorative gift on this occasion. The attendees expressed deepest thanks and gratitude to HM the King for the warm welcomed and gracious hospitality, hailing Bahrain’s hosting of the 146th IPU Assembly.
They lauded Bahrain’s wide-ranging achievements spanning all levels, highlighting the pivotal role played by the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council.
They also praised HM the King’s wise approach in fostering the values of tolerance, moderation, human coexistence, as well as royal humanitarian initiatives in building bridges and dialogue between civilisations and cultures and supporting regional and global security, peace and stability. HM the King hosted a dinner banquet on this occasion in honour of heads of parliaments and their delegations.
