Pakistani football team to play series in Bahrain
Football team from the North Western Pakistani Province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) will arrive here on November 20, Bahrain Football Association (BFA) has confirmed.
Speaking to DT News, BFA General Secretary Hasan Ismael Mohammed said that the team was coming on a seven-day visit to Bahrain.
He said that BFA, in association with Asian Sports Union, would host the Pakistani team. During their stay here in Bahrain, the Pakistani team will play a series of three friendly matches with the Under 19 Bahraini clubs on November 22, 24 and 25.
Bahrain Sports Media Committee President and Asian Sports Union Assistant General Secretary Mohammed Qasim told DT News that the Pakistani football team would be a welcome guest here in the Kingdom.
He said that they were interestingly looking forward to the moment when the Pakistani players would be among them playing friendly matches with their teams.
“It will be a very good opportunity for the young Pakistani players to have an international exposure and learn from the experiences of our teams,” said Qasim.
He said that they had made special arrangements for the guest team and were quite hopeful that they would be enjoying their stay in Bahrain.
Speaking over phone from Pakistan, Malik Saad Memorial Sports Trust Secretary General and Daily Express Peshawar Resident Editor Amjad Aziz said that it was the first time ever that any football team from KPK was visiting Bahrain.
He said that they had worked very hard to select the talented team members from the whole of tribal area and they had done this on their own without any support from the government.
“Football has become almost a ceased game across Pakistan,” he said, “In this deplorable situation, it is not less than an achievement to prepare a football team and send that to Bahrain for playing a series,” he added.
