The Embassy of India organised an Open House on 31 March, which was chaired by the Indian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Piyush Srivastava. The Embassy’s consular team and panel of lawyers were also present.

Around 70 Indian nationals took part in the grievance redressal process. Ambassador Srivastava conveyed greetings to everyone on the holy month of Ramadan. He briefed community members on several high-level bilateral interactions in the month of March 2023, which saw Honorable Speaker, Lok Sabha of India, Shri Om Birla leading a large Parliamentary delegation to Bahrain for 146th IPU Assembly, as well as two Ministerial level visits from Bahrain to India.

He expressed satisfaction at positive trajectory of bilateral ties between India and Bahrain. The Embassy continued to help distressed Indian nationals including housemaids by providing boarding and accommodation, as well as granting emergency certificates and tickets to persons in need through ICWF.

Ms Donga Kannamma and Mr Rajan Mungi could finally return to India by obtaining air tickets through ICWF. Ambassador Srivastava thanked the Bahrain Government authorities including the Ministry of Labour, Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) and Immigration authorities for their prompt support and action concerning consular and community welfare matters.

He also appreciated the commitment and dedication of Indian Community organisations and volunteers including ICRF, World NRI Council, BKS, TKS and ATM in helping the needy members of Indian Diaspora.
