The Ministry of Works reported an increase in the production of treated water last year. More than 88 million cubic metrics of treated water were produced last year, up from 86 million in 2021.

The production of treated water follows filtration and sterilisation techniques to ensure that the wastewater is treated effectively, and in accordance with international environmental standards.

Improvements are being developed to treat sewage water at treatment plants using physical, chemical, and biological treatment techniques.

The idea is to transfer the treated water for use in the process of irrigating crops, 450 farms, afforestation, and a number of major roads in the Kingdom.

The ministry revealed that the total length of the treated water transport network is about 100km, and the total length of the treated water distribution is about 165 km.

In addition, 12 treatment water pumping stations preventative maintenance is carried out regularly to ensure the effective use of the stations. The ministry has introduced a new service through its official website to supply treated water through tanks belonging to government authorities and private entities.

The Kingdom is aiming to improve the level of its services to provide the highest quality, to ensure the highest levels of work performance, and to ultimately maintain sustainability and sanitation services provided to residents and citizens.
