A gathering of artists and writers was hosted by the Philippine Embassy led by Ambassador-designate Anne Jalondo-on Louis.

The meet and greet of artists and writers was a feast of ecstatic verse and imagery from Filipino Creatives Bahrain and Filipino Writers’ Circle, held at the Sentro Rizal, which is housed at the embassy premises.

The most important role of Filipino Creatives Bahrain and Filipino Writers’ Circle is to show the talent and skills of Filipinos through artworks and literature. Catherine Paje, the co-founder of Filipino Creatives Bahrain, said: “It is our highest privilege to showcase the best of our being Filipinos through creative skills.

It is our way of passing to the younger generations the history of our country, the Philippines and learning from our national heroes who offered the deepest love to the country.

“While Sentro Rizal is the global promotion of Filipino art, culture and language, we are truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity given to us by the Philippine Embassy to get motivated to make more time writing and to build a community,’’ Cecil Ancheta, president of the Filipino Writers’ Circle, stated.

Writers who participated and were involved in the opening of Sentro Rizal Bahrain were Scott Magsachi Saboy, Ruth Mirhan Orense, Michaela Banzuela, Gem Reyes and Gina Garro. In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Jalando-on Louis took the opportunity to share information about the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Bahrain on November 27, 1978.

The Embassy was formally opened on April 14, 1992 with former Ambassador Leonides T. Caday, acting as head of the mission. The historical background was presented up to the new embassy location through video clips and photos.
