The Ministry of Health yesterday affirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to achieve “Health for All” by joining hands with world nations in marking World Health Day.
World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on 7 April, under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as other related organizations.
The theme of this year’s World Health Day is “Health for All”. WHO asserted that the right to health is among basic human rights and must be ensured to all, stressing the need for investment in comprehensive health coverage.
In this regard, WHO said that the event is an opportunity to motivate collective action to tackle health challenges and achieve health for all. Data issued by the organisation indicate that 30% of the world’s population is unable to obtain basic health services, and that health systems driven by a primary health care approach are the most effective way to bring services that deliver health and well-being closer to people.
On the occasion, the Ministry of Health confirmed the continuation of its plans aimed at achieving health for all, and launching targeted initiatives aimed at ensuring the participation of countries in achieving the goals of sustainable development.
