The tenth edition of the Bahraini Farmers’ Market, which kicked off on December 10th, 2022 with the slogan “Our Harvest is Bahraini,” has come to a successful close after four months of operation in the Budaiya Botanical Garden.

Over 250,000 people visited the market during its run, which featured 32 farmers, four agricultural companies, five nurseries, four apiaries, four date-specialized activities, and 20 productive families.

The Ministry of Social Development coordinated the event, which also included a special children’s corner that attracted more than 15,000 children.

Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture, expressed his pleasure at the market’s success, stating that the initiative launched by Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, is advancing the agricultural sector and maximizing its contribution to food security.

Al Mubarak said the organising committee has a significant responsibility to develop the upcoming edition of the market meeting expectations, for which the Ministry has issued instructions to commence early preparations, considering the feedback and recommendations gathered during the highly popular latest edition.

The minister also affirmed that the ministry will move forward in developing more initiatives to enhance the contribution of the local agricultural production sector and encourage farmers to adopt modern technologies and advanced agricultural systems to raise the volume of local production and reduce costs.

Additionally, the Secretary-General of the National Initiative for the Development of the Agricultural Sector, Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, confirmed that the initiative will strive for more success during the coming seasons of the farmers’ market.
