The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments and the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) have partnered to launch a joint initiative to provide administrative assistance to workers in filing civil lawsuits.

Workers registered with approved labour registration centres will come under this initiative originally launched by the ministry and LMRA in 2020 to help expatriate workers file labour cases.

Under the new initiative, the LMRA’s Protection and Grievances Centre will provide registered workers with administrative support in submitting and monitoring the progress of civil lawsuits related to their authorised profession.

The facility will operate through a user-friendly electronic system that has been specially created for this purpose.

The system will keep applicants informed about the progress of their applications, from filing the case to the issuance of the verdict.

It will also provide a list of registered lawyers who can offer legal advice in disputes related to these cases.

The Minister of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al Maawadah, and the CEO of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and Head of the National Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons, Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer, have welcomed this initiative, which they believe is a significant step towards protecting workers from exploitation and other forms of abuse.

They said this initiative demonstrates the Kingdom’s commitment to upholding the rights of all workers, regardless of their nationality or background.
