Deeply pained over Shaikh Isa’s demise: Dr Jawahery
Bahrain’s industrial sector has lost a bright and prominent statesman following the sad demise of HRH Prime Minister’s Adviser on Oil and Industrial Affairs and the chairman of the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, GPIC said condoling his passing.
In a statement, GPIC President Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery said: “Shaikh Isa was a prominent name in Bahrain and made great efforts to upgrade the industrial sector during his tenure as Chairman of the Board of companies such as Bapco and Alba, in addition to the GPIC. He also worked for developing the oil sector in a way in which, it has become a fixed asset for Bahrain’s industrial sector in accordance with the highest global standards.”
Dr Jawahery said the results achieved by the GPIC, led by Sheikh Isa, speak for themselves and it is no secret that he was very keen on improving the company’s performance with Bahraini workers, enabling them to take over leadership and management positions.
“Throughout his leadership, the skills and abilities of Bahraini workers continued to be upgraded. Shaikh Isa’s leadership also established the GPIC as one of the best urea plants in the world along with making it into an industrial giant concerned about the environment and its protection,” he added.
Dr Jawahery praised in the statement Shaikh Isa for caring for orphans, people with special needs and the sick through civil society institutions working in the charitable and social fields.
Shaikh Isa, who held several prominent government positions, contributed to a sharp upward trend in the Bahraini economy and a provided a jump-start to the country’s industry, the statement said.
“I received an award for the service of the community two weeks ago, thanks to his support, encouragement and advice. I am extremely saddened and pained at the passing of Shaikh Isa. May he rest in peace with God Almighty,” Dr Jawahery said.
