The High Civil Court ordered an insurance company and a car driver to pay BD9,000 to a Bahraini woman for the 15% disability she suffered as a result of a road accident.

The woman is said to have gotten involved in a road incident, and the report issued by the General Department of Traffic indicated that the driver wasn’t careful enough when he was behind the wheel.

The plaintiff’s lawyer had initially demanded compensation worth BD 5,000 for her client, but she revised it to BD 9,000 after a medical report confirmed that she suffered a 15% impairment. The driver had earlier stood trial before a traffic court, which found him guilty of the accident, and then her lawyer proceeded with filing a complaint at the civil court for compensation.

“My client suffered a life-changing injury that will impact the way she lives forever. "It's only right that she gets compensated for what she is going through, especially after the driver was held guilty of his responsibility for the accident,” the lawyer told the court.
