International cooperation key to global economic development: Bahrain

The Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has called for international cooperation to help countries around the world meet their development targets. The minister was delivering a statement at the World Bank Group (WBG)’s Development Committee on behalf of the Arab Group and The Maldives.

The talks were on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the WBG and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). During the statement, the minister emphasised the importance of international cooperation to address global economic developments.

He called for the development of plans, strategies, and programmes that assist the economic development process and contribute to the alleviation and enhancement of economic challenges.

Additionally, Shaikh Salman stressed the importance of exchanging experiences, developing effective and innovative solutions, and accelerating work within sustainable development goals to maximise the benefits of available financial resources and meet the development needs of a variety of countries.

HAils UAE’s chairmanship

The minister also took the opportunity to congratulate the United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Financial Affairs, Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, on the UAE’s chairmanship of WBG’s Development Committee in its current session.

Shaikh Salman praised WBG’s efforts in supporting sustainable development and enhancing cooperation to face global challenges and achieve economic development.
