Eid Al Fitr begins today in Bahrain

Bahrain will celebrate the first day of Eid Al-Fitr today, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) announced yesterday. The Ramadan moon-sighting committee met at the SCIA headquarters to receive news and testimonies and confirmed the birth of the Shawwal crescent.

Based on testimonies from Saudi Arabia, the panel, which comprised scholars Shaikh Adnan bin Abdulla Al Qattan, Dr Shaikh Fareed Yacoub Al Meftah, Dr Shaikh Ibrahim Al-Merrikhi, and Shaikh Rashid bin Hassan Al-Buainain, declared Friday as the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in Bahrain.

The SCIA then congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Royal Family, the people of Bahrain, and the Islamic world.

Following the announcement, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received a congratulatory cable from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

In the cable, HRH Prince Salman wished abundant health and happiness to HM King, as well as progress and prosperity for Bahrain, the Arab and Islamic nations, and their people. In response, HM the King sent a cable of thanks to HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister, congratulating him and wishing him abundant health and happiness.

HM King also exchanged Eid greetings with leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council nations, Arab, Islamic nations, ministers, Royal Family members, top officials, diplomats and prominent citizens. HM King wished them abundant health and happiness, further progress and prosperity.
